Senior Electrical Estimator

A. SENIOR PURPOSE

  1.  The purpose of this role is to perform precise, timely, and organized estimates. This shall include evaluating potential bid opportunities, oversee the creation of bid opportunities, approve proposal documents, negotiate prebid pricing with material vendors and subcontractors, and manage bid review.

B. MANAGER AND MANAGER ONCE REMOVED

  1.  The manager of the Senior Electrical Estimator is the Construction Operations Manager
  2.  The manager once removed is the Vice President

C. KRAS

  1.  KRA #1 – Provide profitable backlog
    1.  Tasks
      1.  This is accomplished by ensuring that the bid selection criteria were met and a thorough takeoff and scope review were conducted to ensure no scope gaps exist.
      2.  Ensure that we are determining true cost using accurate direct and indirect project cost protocols.
      3.  A minimum of 6 months backlog is the minimum for each branch at their current burn rate.
  2.  KRA #2 – Create team culture for the estimating group
    1.  Tasks
      1.  Manage the development of the estimating department by creating clear role definition, initiate specialization, and ensure proper talent stratification.
      2.  Enroll in executive coaching or courses to improve in areas of communication and leadership.
      3.  Obtain an in house mentor to ensure progress.
  3.  KRA #3 – Provide training protocol for estimators
    1.  Tasks
      1. Formulate and present a training plan for the different strata within the department including a training matrix with key milestoes for each position within the department.
  4.  KRA #4 – Manage estimating resources
    1.  Tasks
      1.  Establish estimating budgets for each project being bid and assign estimating resources to the project.
      2.  Create and maintain the man loaded estimating schedule.
      3.  Coordinate estimating meetings to evaluate the current needs of the branches and the availability of estimators in meeting the needs of the backlog demands.
  5. KRA #5- Ensure accurate database management
    1.  Tasks
      1.  Create the standard protocol for material pricing updates
      2.  Install pricing updates as required.
      3.  Monitor material pricing fluctuations and communicate to the estimators as necessary.
      4.  Review and revise assemblies and templates to ensure that maximum productivity for the estimators.
      5.  Schedule and conduct yearly meetings to review project productivity data and compare them to existing labor bid units.
      6.  Obtain Estimating Manager approval prior to any labor bid unit adjustment in the database.
  6. KRA #6 – Manage estimating process
    1.  Tasks
      1.  Ensure that the estimating process as defind by the estimating team are followed.
      2.  These processes include the bid selection criteria, scope review checklist, bid closing, electronic and hard copy bid book, estimating turnover meeting, and estimating budget.
  7.  KRA #7 – Coordinate estimating activities with the needs of other departments
    1.  Tasks
      1.  Ensure that proper coordination occurs as required with all internal clients within the organization.
      2.  Coordinate all activities between estimating and BIM and estimating and preconstruction to define and execute complete scopes of work.

D. QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Candidate must have at least 5-10 years of electrical estimating experience
  2.  Experience with McCormick estimating software (or similar estimating software)
  3.  Proficient in Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  4.  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written communication
  5.  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  6.  Attention to detail in multiple tasks
  7.  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  8.  Working knowledge of electrical installations
  9.  In-depth knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
