Junior Electrical Estimator

A. SENIOR PURPOSE

  1.  The purpose of this role is to perform precise, timely, and organized estimates. This shall include evaluating potential bid opportunities, oversee the creation of bid opportunities, approve proposal documents, negotiate prebid pricing with material vendors and subcontractors, and manage bid review.

B. MANAGER AND MANAGER ONCE REMOVED

  1.  The manager of the Junior Estimator is the Estimator
  2.  The manager once removed is the Sr. Estimator

C. KRAS

  1.  KRA #1 – Provide profitable backlog
    1. Tasks
      1.  This is accomplished by ensuring that the bid selection criteria were met, and a thorough takeoff and scope review were conducted to ensure no scope gaps exist.
      2.  Ensure that we are determining true cost using accurate direct and indirect project cost protocols.
      3.  A minimum of 6 months backlog is the minimum for each branch at their current burn rate.

2. KRA #2 – Cooperate in the team culture for the estimating group

  1.  Tasks
    1.  Engage in the development of the estimating department by following the roles as defined.
    2.  Enroll in coaching or continuing education courses to improve in areas of estimating.
    3.  Obtain an in-house mentor to ensure progress

3. KRA #3 – Follow training protocol for estimators

  1.  Tasks
    1. Follow the training plan put in place by the Sr. Estimator

4. KRA #4 – Coordinate estimating activities with the needs of other departments

  1.  Tasks
    1.  Fill in on large team estimates
    2.  Help service with small quotes

D. QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Candidate must have one of the following:
    • 3-5 years of electrical field experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or college experience in electrical engineering
  2. Ability to perform basic electrical estimates
  3.  Experience with McCormick estimating software (or similar estimating software) (Preferred)
  4.  Proficient in Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written communication
  6.  Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  7.  Attention to detail in multiple tasks
  8.  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

8 hour shift
Monday to Friday

Davison, MI 48423: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

Construction estimating: 1 year (Preferred)
Electrical: 3 years (Required)
